Lenovo 3000 N100 Audio Driver
Hi,
I have had a Lenovo 3000 N100 (0768-BYG)running on Windows XP service pack 3 for about two years now. Until 10 days back, have never had a sound issue with the on-board Realtek soundcard. However now the problem is that either when the machine starts and and windows XP has been fully loaded, in device manager, the sound card is shown to be detected as an 'Unknown device on HD audio bus' or the 'Relatek HD audio' entry in 'sound video and game controllers' is shown to be working properly (with the driver 5.10.0.5464)but there is no sound either from the speaker or from earphones connected to the jack.
With an unknown device situation, installing the device drivers doesn't make the sound come on, even with the device being shown to be working properly in device manager. Even after successive un-installing of the sound card and and then re-installing it as well as the driver, the sound does not come on.
It's only a pure coincidence that the sound does come on sometimes when the system starts, but that is like 1 time out of 20.
Is the only solution a completely fresh Windows XP install or some remedy might be there to resolve this issue?
Regards,
Aziz
