  • Google Play is the best service with a pay-per-view model because it’s easy to use and there are no commercials. Some of our testers prefer subscription-based streaming services, but if you only watch one or two movies each month then Google Play is the place to go.
  • Productivity Suite Software. The design interface is very glitchy. The latest version of Chome (70.0.3538.110 (Official Build) (64-bit)) has stopped loading web.
  • Pretty Good!

I was surprised, at how easy this makes my mixing and Mastering. Good Layout and good controls. It is almost like having a full console! Makes it really easy to make adjustments by ear. No need for a mouse.

  • Workflow game-changer!

Totally transformed my workflow after only one week!
Mixes happen faster and with fantastic quality with the stock SSL-4000E emulation. Used with the PreSonus FaderPort 8 the extremely deep level of seamless integration with Studio One Pro is simply fantastic. I expect this will only get better as I develop a good level of muscle memory for the layout.
If you are like me and learned back in the old days on large consoles and always felt the mouse, keyboard and computer screen cumbersome and time-consuming, but you can't justify purchasing a large-format digital console then this is your ticket.

  • Nothing but Excellence

I've had Console 1 for over a year now. I absolutely love the gear and software. I use it with Pro Tools, which functionality is limited (wake up Avid and link up with Softube to incorporate full functionality), but that does not stop my 5 stars because I've learned to implement it into my work flow and it is irreplaceable. The SSL Sound is priceless!
Great work Softube on the emulations, I couldn't be happier. SSL 9k and 4K are my go to plugins. I mix with the Console 1 without needing to look at my monitor, which helped my mixes come to life a lot faster. Comes to show, how much our eyes fool our mixing choices in the digital world.
Don't miss out on this beauty!!! Must purchase for anyone wanting a dedicated gate, eq, compressor with knobs and a lot less mouse clicks.

  • Great Studio Add-On

I have been mixing and recording for a few decades now. There are many emulations of the SSL 4000e console that are out there and many are very good. The control that you get using the hardware interface to control the Softube plug-ins was exactly what I needed. Since it dropped in price recently I have been thinking about buying the system. Now that I have it was worth every penny. Anytime I can keep away from the mouse and stick to knobs and faders, it is a great thing. After only a couple of days I had a good feel for the hardware console. 2 weeks later I was mixing mixing by feel and rarely looking at the hardware at all.

  • Mix with your ears, not your eyes!

I am glad I bought this, the more I mix the less I find myself reaching to use other plugins. Just having the feel of mixing with my hands really helps/makes me to mix more with my ears (No more I should not bring the gain that low or high). The plugins I can use on the Softube Console One are great! I can't be happier.

  • This is what I have needed FOREVER!

    Love it Thanks Brendon

  • Awesome

Shout out to my sales engineer Anthony longz he built my home studio from the ground up ...when he recommended this piece his recommendation never falls short I love this product and the plug-ins that comes with it

  • Fast workflow using your ears

Twisting knobs and using your ears makes all the difference in the world to me. This is very well thought out and sounds amazing. I have so many different plugin eqs and after using the ssl4000 that comes with it I just don't find myself reaching for anything else. The whole system is so streamlined, it takes me about a third of the time to dial in a sound than it does inserting different plugins. The amazing thing to me is how good it sounds. All of this with no compromise in sound. Love it!

  • Wonderfu!

It really does remind me of the old says on a real console, and the sound of the plugins (SSL4000, Brit Class A etc.) is absolutely stellar. Couldn't be happier. It just arrived a week ago and i'm quite blown away... all the hype is absolutely true, and it's a blast to use. Thank you Delvin!

  • The bee's knee's for VST's

I've been testing the Console One out for the last week and I can honestly say I am BLOWN AWAY by the quality I am getting out of it.. I am a heavy VST user inside of Ableton and started putting Console 1 on each of my instrument tracks and there is a warmth, a detail, that is hard to explain but you will understand once you hear it. The character and drive knobs are my new best friends.
The on-screen display gives you instant feedback visually, and this thing is built rugged. Reminds me of some of the older Mackie mixer in terms of overall 'toughness'.
Additionally, I have purchased an Apollo 8p (on it's way) and I'm excited about the integration between the two products which looks to be very promising.

  • Console 1 made my day!

C1 truly is a game changer in terms of workflow and sheer enjoyability. It's like time traveling back to the analog days, except that it has a small footprint and you never leave the sweet spot. :) The sound of the plugs is stellar as well. It's the time of thing you have to try physically to appreciate fully. If you're considering this thing just buy it, you will not regret it. Using it with Studio One, so it also controls gain, pan, and the track names and track numbering follow the session seamlessly. Christmas came early this year. Thank you Delvin for your help!

  • Awesome!

I've been working on a remix project resurrecting a live performance from the early 80's of a rock band I was in. I thought I was just about finished until I incorporated the Softube Console 1 and SSL SL 4000 E. What a difference! And quick! I will be starting over with the remix and I can't overemphasize how much time this piece of gear will save. I own an Apollo 8p, but I don't do that much live tracking. Nonetheless, I can't wait to get more into this thing when I track horn parts for my new compositions. The integration with the 8p is amazing.

  • I Love It

First thing I did when I got the console 1 was remix songs I had already mixed. And there's a huge difference in sound. One song I did, I just played both break and forth and was blown away by how awesome it sounds now. Right now I using the SSL 4000 but I plan to get the 9K as well. You cannot go wrong by purchasing this product. Not only does it sound awesome, but I'm able to mix songs and get them sounding great, much faster.

  • Love it

It's one of my favorite things about mixing. . . I've had it about a year - with the integration of Cubase - it got even better. . .
I do a lot of live sound remixes - the gate is out of this world. . . The drive knob helps things cut through. . .
    Just wonderful

  • A Must For Apollo Users

Console 1's integration with Universal Audio Apollo's Console application is an absolute godsend for me, allowing me to dial in perfect headphone mixes while also controlling the UAD plugins all from the performance position on the other side of my studio. Combined with a Faderport as a transport control, I never have to get up and mouse around. This may seem like a small thing but it makes tracking a sheer joy -- and it shows in the performances I am capturing.
If that weren't enough, the Softube SSL 4000e emulation is just the icing on the cake and is incredibly useful on mix down. I do not have the UAD SSL plugins to which I could compare (nor any experience with the real deal) but I don't care. The Softube emulation sounds great and the Console 1 hardware is a pleasure to use -- not just twirling the knobs and pressing the buttons (all of which feel nice and sturdy) but also the GUI which offers spectral analysis as well as metering.
In all, I could not be happier -- and will most likely buy more of their software. I cannot give a better endorsement than that!

  • I'm a believer

Believe all of the glowing reviews about the Console 1. They're all spot-on! Easily the best $ I've spent on studio gear EVER! As others have said, it's a no-brainer ... just get one. It'll transform your workflow big time.
    I'm glad I have it!

  • So cool!

I knew all the Console 1 mk2 reviews were good, but I was still really surprised by how amazing this product is! I love the workflow - It is so intuitive that I barely needed to look at the manual to learn it. Its really nice to be able to put the console 1 in my lap and turn knobs to add gating, eq, compression or drive to my tracks, Volume and pan are also right there. Its really fun to mix with Console 1 and a lot faster than mouse mixing. I couldnt say if the emulation sounds like an SSL 4000E console, but the sound is phenomenal to my ears, The software display is very well thought out too. I like that Softube added a frequency spectrum analyzer. So far, I have had no trouble with glitches or latency, even after inserting the plugin on probably 20 tracks on a lowly Dell T3500 running Windows 7 pro. I was nervous about how it might perform on my old computer, but it hasnt been a problem for me.
I also got great customer support from Softube. I had a little trouble installing the software (my own boneheadedness) and Mattias replied within one day and stuck with me until the problem was solved. So Softube is great, the Console 1 is amazing, and it fits my work style perfectly. I'm looking forward to trying some of the UA plugins with it in the future. If you want to mix out of the box, you really should check this out!

  • Console 1

Console 1 gives me a new perspective on mixing. To be able to see all your mixing tool right in front of you allows you to learn to use your ears while you are shaping your mix. You don't have to use your mouse to switch back and forth to get get to tracks, EQ, Compression, Gate, or Shape. The analog sound is noticeable as soon as you play your music! I am very happy and very satisfied with Console 1 and I highly recommend this mixer to anyone who wants to make studio quality sound!

  • Mixing Must Have

If you are doing mixing this is a must have. It promotes mixing with your ears and gives you the tools you need to sculpt your mix in one really nice package. This has been one of the best purchases I have received in quite some time. Please note for the name integration make sure to use the vst3 plugin. Great job Softube.

  • Simply To Easy

It does everything it says it can do and more. I love the option of being able to use different EQs and compressors at the touch of a button. The gate feature was a real smash for me personally. The Punch knob is the $#@t! Just buy it or be quiet.

  • Old Dog New Tricks

Over the last 8 or so years I have purchased all gear from SW. Every transaction has been handled by Mike Harris in a complete professional manner. I would never consider buying from someone else. The latest piece I purchased is the Studio 1 controller. Everything you have read about it is true. It will transform your DAW based workstation into analogue heaven simply by installing as a plugin into each channel. I am very pleased with Studio 1.

  • Great on it's own! DEFINITELY Buy it if you use UA Apollo!

I purchased the Console One a few months back and have been using it in my home studio ever since. The 1st thing I would like to say about this amazing little box is how well the controls are laid out! There is a row of soft buttons at the top that allows you to choose which channel you're working on. You can page over easily in banks of 20 to control as needed. The knobs for the Gains, Gate, EQ, Compressor and Drive are laid out Intuitively and have a good feel to them. Any adjustments made on the Console One can be visually seen on your monitor. The included SSL 4000E Plug-in sounded great and I originally bought the device for that reason, BUT!
I also own a Universal Audio Apollo twin, and an Apollo 8p. Softube and Universal Audio have teamed up to allow the Console One to control Universal Audio Plug-ins! This is AWESOME! I now have hands on control of all of my UA plugs and this has drastically reduced the amount of time I spend recording and mixing!
It's an easy set up and an easy learning curve! Having the ability to actually put my hands on a control surface is great! I love mine!

  • Softube Console One MKII Controller

I was skeptical about this product's usefulness but decided to call my sales engineer, Paul Lea to discuss it. I ordered one and it arrived in 2 days with Sweetwater's free shipping.
When I took the hardware out of the box I was immediately impressed by the build quality and the tactility of the knobs and buttons. I quickly downloaded Gobbler and downloaded and installed the control software. After installing I placed the Console plugin in Pro Tools 12 on the bass drum and bass guitar track of a session I was working on. After selecting the bass drum channel on the Console One and opening the plugin I was greeted by a graphic interface that corresponds to the controls on the hardware.
Using the included SSL console emulation, I first engaged the EQ started listening and turning knobs to shape the tone. EUREKA! I felt as though I was sitting at REAL SSL console tweezing the knobs and finding the sound I was looking for. For the first time after 12 years of using Pro Tools and plugins I felt at one with the digital recording process. Next I engaged the Shape and Compressor controls and zeroed in on the best bass drum sound I have had! Did the same thing with the bass guitar and VOILA! a kicka** low end foundation for my tracks!
I'm a UAD Apollo 8p user with 50 UAD plugins. I quick navigated to using the Manley Massive Passive for EQ and the Fairchild 660 as compressor. Fantastic! The ability to use a lot of my UAD plugins with the Console One's controller has revolutionized my workflow and ENJOYMENT! SoftTube has also just introduced the APOLLO CENTRAL software that allows precise control of UA's Console application.
If you are a UAD Apollo user, the Console One Mark II is the missing link to exploit the full potential of UA's fantastic platform. This is the best $500 I have ever spent on my studio. Take my advice, BUY ONE!

  • Love the knobs and buttons and the SSL sound

Older engineers from the analog days will particularly enjoy the intuitive feel and the sound processing that goes with it. The solo feature allows full solo or solo within the buss the track is being fed to (If you are using Studio One Pro). You have great viewing interface but the main thing is being able to effect the sound with gating, EQ and compression all in one place. You can load it into all tracks with little CPU load and even with processing on every track, CPU load is very light. Great product and well worth the money.

  • Lives up to the hype

Read a lot about the Console 1 before actually getting it. Now that I've got it and dug into it, it totally lives up to the rave reviews it got. The way it integrates with Studio One is awesome and the power of UAD as well...? Brilliant. Couldn't be more stoked.

  • Should have bought this sooner!

So where do I start? I am not a rep, I do not get paid for this post nor do I have any affiliation with Sweetwater or SoftTube so this will be a blunt and honest review.
This is one of the best purchases I have ever made for my studio. I literally had to be convinced prior to buying this product and was still very skeptical of the purchase that I chose to break up the payment until I felt this product was worth keeping or returning. Well, I am glad to say that this product has blown me away. I use it every second of every day that I work on any project. I personally love the feel of the unit and the placement of the buttons. It took me about two days of major use and I started clicking and pushing without thought and even memorized the major buttons and nobs. This is a single channel that is DAW friendly and allows you to save space while still getting the sound of the console you love. Even better you can purchase two other consoles to make a total of three consoles in your studio. Long gone are the days of you having to own/rent a suite/ building or level of your home to house these units. This is to me, the wave of the future and anyone who has one will tell you that 'I don't know how I work so long without it'. You can literally set this up and hear the harmonics change in your project. Furthermore, the learning curve is near to not existent if you have experience on a console. Don't get down and out if you have no experience as there are tons of YouTube videos to help. The unit is sturdy and well made. I have used it for about three months now and have had no issues what so ever and to make this a no-brainer SoftTube even lets you demo all of its plugins as well for 20days. So if you get it but find that you don't really need it as a mixer but love the plugins you have a second option of use. It can even be used to control VST's that are made by SoftTube and UAD.
My special note for anyone thinking of buying is this:
    1) Do you need a Digital Textile Mixer like this?
    2) The intent for this device is not to be on and off. It's literally a 4k console and should be used as such for each track and every project. If that is not your intent DO NOT BUY IT!
    3) Make sure you have an open USB Port preferably 3.0.(Note this system has no lag and uses little CPU)
    4) I recommend a dedicated screen. This way you can mix on a screen without fliping back and fourth. However, you do have multiple layouts to save you screen space if you don't have the extra screen)
    5) If you have 1-3 checked off and maybe 4, the last thing you need to look at is your pocket. If you can spend it JUST DO IT. This unit is the cheapest its ever been and that's due to its massive success and the company's ability to now outsource a manufacture to produce products for the supply and demand. I.E. It's not getting cheaper so don't wait. Remember you can always return it if you don't like it but I would be willing to bet that, that's not going to be the case once you use it.
Special thanks to Kevin Scott for helping us with this purchase.

  • Excellent

I have had the console for a couple weeks now. I also added the SSL 9000 to the console (which is the one I use most on the Console 1). This thing sounds incredible. There are plugins and bundles that are the cost of this product and some cost more. You have EQ and Compression right here. Amazing ones to be honest.
The drive and character features are great. As you turn the knobs you can hear the instances dial right in.In Pro Tools and Logic Pro X, I just add the console to every single channel and use to my liking. Also the SSL 4000 E sounds great too. I have used a real one numerous times and this emulation is wonderful. If you have the budget for this item then buy it! TREAT YOURSELF DON'T PLAY YOURSELF!!!!!!!

  • Some sorta magic glue !!!

disclaimer: I only write reviews if I feel others can gain from my experience and make their decision knowing that I work hard for my money and anything I spend it on isn't until I've researched it fully.
    EXPECTATIONS:
Better mixes, faster mixes, more commercial sounding quality.
    WHAT I LOVE:
I mix with my ears now. Mixes take 1/4 the time with the Console 1 vs a mouse or even an iPad for that matter. THE KNOBS, the buttons, nothing about this feels cheap. This thing was designed to last you a while. fine adjust via holding the shift button. save your own presets, the ability to pick different views of the software with a click of a button like go from viewing a screen of the knobs in realtime to a eq window or to just a fader window to see the levels and really use your ears. Everything you need to do is hardware based after you place the channel strip on every track. Watch it change your life frfr.
WHAT PROBLEM DID IT SOLVE FOR ME:
I purchased a smaller usb mixer a few years ago hoping it would be the savior for my mixing woes. it wasn't. The CONSOLE 1 solved my need to mix hands on with knobs and rely on what my ears tell me vs the frequency of the eq or the threshold of the compressor. Console 1 got me off my Logic X addiction i mean loyalty to constant CPU messages on a maxed out beast if a MacBook Pro,(2011 15' dual SSD, 16GB ram) how so? well for one it works flawlessly with Studio One and I've had no spikes. I had a deadline that wasn't going to be met if i kept having to deal with software issues. The Console 1 Channel Strip is all you need to mix with in any DAW that you choose but it moved me to a more stable environment that seemed to work better for my creative mind. Less thinking, more doing. Everything just feels right.
    WHAT I GOT:
Everything I expected and more...the more being the love to...no correction, the art of mixing! The love for the art of mixing was reborn from my earlier schooling at Full Sail (online). It was lost in the hours of trying to get a mix just right using a laptop track pad to this heavy, solid, well built out of metal machine. I found what was missing to give my music that breath of life to really come across in the mix. its almost like some sorta magic glue.
I haven't Tried the other channel strips available to purchase, plan to but at the time or writing this the SSL 4000 does the trick for everything from drums to keys to vocals, you can get a great sound from the most lacking of sample instruments.
The Console 1 is a must for any producer who wants to save time and get a great mix. The mixing time alone is the best feature, you can get back to making more of what you love. It has for me.

  • Game Changer

The Console One completely changed the game for me. My plugin count is a fraction of what it used to be and I find myself focused more on actually listening rather than menu diving. The hardware itself is built like a tank while the controls are buttery smooth and the digital response is instant. I can't take my hands off this thing and my mixes are much better for it. Can't wait to try the British Class A emulation next!

  • A real feel to mixing!

I have been a huge proponent of Digital Audio since I purchased Pro Tools 5 in 1999. I have been looking for a way to get that 'hands on' feeling while mixing that the mouse just cannot. The MKII is the perfect way to control the parameters of the SSL plugin that cones with the MKII. I am already wanting to buy the upgraded console and plugins just for the control. If you are tired of fling around the screen with your mouse and want to get the hardest part, the EQ and Compression out the way easier, get this!

  • WOW

THIS IS CRAZY A MINI SSL GET THIS NOW YOU WILL BE BLOWN AWAY..

  • The only way I'll mix now.

In short, these are some of the best sounding plugins I've ever mixed with, and I LOVE the hardware. It is a solid, well built piece. It brings back that wonderful workflow that only comes from mixing on a console. Also, you stop looking at the screen so often and start listening more, which automatically improves mixes in my opinion. I still use outboard gear in my mix workflow, but I rarely use any other plugins than the console 1. I just put it on every track (usually the British Class A with the drive at 50 on my tracks, and the SSL 9000 with no drive on my 8 stereo busses going to my Folcrom summing mixer, but that's subject to change depending on the musical style.) If I need a different compressor, gate, eq, I can quickly pull it up and start turning knobs. I love the UAD integration as well! Yes, I am very happy with this purchase, and I'm so impressed with Softube for offering the HUGE price drop! Now half the price! They didn't have to do that, but they did. Incredible customer care move. I can't wait until they come out with more compatible plugins. The only other thing I hope they do is perhaps give us more control of functions of plugins using the shift knob, but it's not a deal breaker by any means. (For example, changing the attack and release mode on the CL 1B between fixed and manual, or using the HPF side chain on the UAD Fairchild 660/670.) This seems like an obvious upgrade to me, but we'll see. In the meantime, it's still an indispensable part of my workflow!
P.S. Between the Console 1 and my Faderport 8, I was slowly nudged towards Studio One 3 for the compatibility and customer support and away from Pro Tools (which I've been using exclusively for at least 10 years, so it was a difficult switch to embrace.) I know it's veering slightly off topic, but I'd really like to mention that the integration between the Console 1 and Studio One alone made it worth the move. I still have Pro Tools for customers who request it, but I'm becoming ever more disappointed with Avid, their customer support, their lack of compatibility, and their choice to go with a subscription model. I think they have become classist, only TRULY cater to the wealthiest of studio owners, and even so, the software just seems inefficient, glitchy, and outdated. I use Pro Tools as little as possible now. Thank you Presonus and Softube for working together to bring us such great customer support and compatibility with this product!

  • Best small controller

This product has blown me away.
I was expecting that it was somewhat good but not the best product for my studio. I would say that my mixes have gone to a new dimension and this product would allow you to start back mixing with your ears and actually listening to the nuances in your music rather than moving your mouse around. I even put it on my axes and busses - it has a glue that puts everything in perspective. You get to see the depth of your mix and shape your tones exactly how you want to. You can also drive it so you get to hear it when you push it to that right level. It is wonderful. Thanks

  • One of my best purchases

I would honestly put this as one of the best purchases that I've made. It blows me away how fast I can clean a mix up and just how different the before and after sounds. It runs on relatively low cpu as well. I've thrown it on every track on some relatively large songs and it makes a very small difference on the cpu. (Running in Live 9)
I have to admit, while I love the stock SSL 4000 that it ships with I ended up downloading all trials of their channel strips and the Grand Audio Master channel blew me away even more so I purchased that as well which does make it sound even better. But even if your only going to use the SSL 4000 you will still be amazed.
The EQ and compressor both sound great and to be able to bounce through your entire mix at the push of a button and tweak each parameter on a physical piece of equipment is a level of efficiently I've only experienced through the console 1. Oh and I absolutely love that it has a saturation knob with its own character (basically tone) control.
I've used it on my purely electronic tracks as well as my purely instrument based tracks and I've found it works equally as well on both styles. The saturation section is really great on guitars.
So far I really can't think of anything bad to say about it.
It's honestly a steal at the price they offer it for. So if you're asking me I say make it your next purchase and you won't be disappointed!

  • How DAW mixing should be done!

90% of the tools you need to mix, at your fingertips. Console 1 is brilliant.

  • More than happy

I'm more than happy with this purchase well worth the money good job softube.I had 4 people buy this unit that's how much I like it and talk about it.They have video and tutorial online for it.

  • Console 1 and Studio 1

This thing really doesn't have a competitor except maybe a real SSL console and some UAD plugins. I would call it a summing buss also if i didn't know any better. Makes you feel the Mix and I would use this even if I owned an SSL console just so that I wont have to recall so many channels. I highly recommend putting console1 on every channel including the Master Fader. Then you will see why it sounds like a summing buss!! I haven't had any non analogue gear to catch my attention since the Apollo and I still want an SSL XL desk but this will do for now until I get $40k to spend. You wont mix the same again after you get a console 1. 30min rough mixes will make the album.

  • Get this NOW

Sooo ok not going to make this long and drawn out either, I honest don't think I have EVER written a review, well here goes. I have been wanting that clean professional mix sound for sooo long, and to be honest, with the hardware and all the plugins I have I was putting out stellar mixes, but still felt something was missing, so after much research I pulled the trigger on console 1 and it has changed my LIFE. I was in the middle of mixing a live record and remixed one of the songs with console 1, needless to say the client ask if I would remixed what I previously mixed to match this sound. Now the SSl 4K is great but what did it for me is the SSL 9k the bone crushing lows are super tight, very defined and very LOW. And the clearness and 3D is ridiculous. One last thing for anyone who is concern I was mixing with VCC accross all my channels and I never thought I would say this but this blows it AWAY. I mix in half the time literally only using maybe 2 other plugins. GET THIS.

  • What You Waiting For

I could make this long and drawn out but I won't.
I got my Softube Console One MKII Controller.
    Using it with Sonar.
    A 'DEFINITE' noticeable difference immediately.
It will be part of my Sonar Template from here on out...
    Drop the MIC!!!

  • Workflow Enhancer

The first recording console I ever used in a professional workspace was a SSL XL 9000K. The owner of the SSL fist suggested this to me when the first Console 1 make arrived at retail stores. He also mentioned he may get one to take home in-between sessions. The price was too high but at the new price, it's a done deal. Had to get it.
Softube Console 1 has taken over my workstation. I can't express how much I truly admire the console 1 eco system. With the UAD integration and reduced price, this was a easy purchase to decide on.
This has improved workflow for myself and a few of my friends I suggested the unit to. Within the first month of owning it, I purchased Volume 1 to mix with my UAD plugins for custom preset templates.
I hope they work with other manufacturer's in the near future to add more options. To make things even more interesting, we will be able to use this in Reason 9.5. That is going to be awesome.
Also thanks to my rep, Stephen, for the phone call. He was right about how amazing this controller is.

  • SOFTUBE Really Did IT!

Just received my Console 1. I downloaded the software and installed it. I pulled up an old mix that I was previously very pleased with but this time I used the Console 1. I was amazed at how much faster it was to get the tracks sounding perfect. It does not take long to get familiar with the control knobs and button locations. The sound of the SSL 4000 E is excellent and I love the great characteristics of the sustain, punch and drive emulation, just beautiful sounding. At softies new lower price and its integration with UAD plug-ins you can't go wrong. I thought about all of the software I purchased over the last couple years, and have replace nearly all with Console 1.

  • SOFTUBE Really Did IT!

  • Console one mk2

Listen, I've worked many great analog consoles including SSL's. I 1st tried Harrison Mix bus to see if i could really get the sound of a console in the box...It's okay, but no controller and the editor side is light years behind Studio one 3, which I love. Had my eye on Console One even before the Harrison. Tried console one...Won't be upgrading the Mixbus. Console one does everything I hoped it might, and I got to stay within my familiar Daw. I've only used the SSL emulation but I basically had no need to open up ANY other plugins to make a mix sound super sweet with a glossy coating lol. Oh yes, YOUR SOUND WILL BE LIKE ANALOG, and you will smile like I did/do.

  • Great sound well built and money well spent

Bought this unit last week and all I can say is it's worth every penny

  • Best Equipment u need

I'm a music producer who doesn't really know the ins and outs of mixing but I'm a good and fast hands on learner. So when I saw the console 1, it intrigued me. the Console 1 it emulates the Solid State Logic SL 4000 E. I swear you can't tell the difference. Money well spent. This is probably the best piece of music equipment I've EVER bought. Producers Engineers if you looking to improve your sound and save yourself some work time while using an A1 Professional platform You need to get the Console 1. Today is my first day using it and I'm blown away. Full review coming soon. BTW I Just mixed down about 3 beats and A Song in about an hour and a half using this mixer. Thanks mark

  • Don't over think it, just do it!

This is what we've all been waiting for. If you come from the world of tactile mixing without a mouse, this is what you're looking for. Cuts down on mouse time, mixing with eyes versus ears, and having a crazy amount of unnecessary plugins per channel. And if you use Presonus Faderport8 in addition to the console1 you've just about totally nixed the mouse altogether.
Totally worth the price... and the SSL 4K E that comes with it is a very true emulation, not to mention the ability to use UAD plugins. It's a definite win!

  • Game Changer

This really is a game changer for me. The Console 1 truly provides you with the ability to mix with your ears rather than your eyes, to whatever extent you like. This is the main selling point in my mind. But aside from that, having instant access to EQ, Compression, etc. across all your channels is a real time saver.
As for the sound itself (of the SSL 4000), the EQ sounds fantastic and is quite 'musical', as they say, in that it's very hard to get it to sound bad. The transient section is amazing on drums. I love the Drive section, they say at 5 it emulates an SSL 4000, but it's sounds fantastic to push it further on certain sources.
This has instantly become both my 'island' piece of gear and plugin. In my opinion this is a home run for Softube at this price point; if you've been considering one I really don't think you'll be disappointed.

  • The one piece of gear that changed my mixing life.

Okay, every once in a while a piece of gear comes along that just makes your (mixing) life so much better - and at the risk of sounding like a Softube salesman - the Softube Console 1 has to be that piece of gear.
Forget for a moment that the hardware is amazing (and it truly is), and makes mixing fun, quicker, and easier, the SSL 4000 software emulation is over the top. While I’ve never had the privilege of actually working on the real SSL 4000 console—and therefore couldn’t tell you how it compares—I can say that everything about the Softube SSL 4000 software emulation, from the high and low pass filters, to the shaping section (gate, etc.), to the musical and amazing sounding EQ section, to the super responsive compressor, and finally, the Drive and Character section, just makes things sound great.
I started out slowly by playing around with the Console 1 on an acoustic guitar, and what I found was, I was just able to get it dialed in so much better and faster. The hardware/software combination let’s you experiment with the EQ curves in a manner that I never did with other top-name software audio plugins - and I own a ton of them.
While the SSL 4000 emulation isn’t really a surgical EQ, it’s totally more musical than any other EQ I think I’ve used. Softube also sells a British Class A console emulation that has even broader EQ curves than the SSL 4000 and creates wonderful, broad sweeps across the frequency spectrum. Nice! There's also on other Softube console emulation I have yet to try, the SSL 9000K: hope to do soon.
The Softube Console 1 is simply amazing! Gets my recommendation.

  • Console 1

Console 1 is one of the most intuitive controller that you will ever use. That SSL sound is awesome and mixing is a breeze. Also remember that you can now use UAD plugins. On top of that Sweetwater will provide you with excellent service. Big shoutout to Brad Jahn for outstanding customer service.

  • I can't live without it now!

I'm going to do my best to contain my excitement and give as objective an overview as possible...
Some background. I'm a private studio owner in Nashville. I graduated from a well known music school in the north with a degree in music production and engineering, and I've had the opportunity to work in some world-class studios with Neves, APIs and SSLs. My first mixer for my private studio was an Allen and Heath GSR-24, which I subsequently replaced with a Folcrom summing mixer, a bunch of outboard preamps (Neve, Chandler, Dizengoff, LaChapell, Phoenix Audio, UA), some Universal Audio Apollo 16s, a Slate Raven, Presonus Faderport 8, and now I have added the Console One.
I received this unit less than a week ago and have used it to fully mix 5 songs now. I was actually waiting for it to arrive to mix my own EP. After it arrived, I went ahead and added the British Class A (Neve) and the SSL 9000K consoles (I already owned the Softube Grand Channel as well, which does a really nice 'tubey' thing). So, now I have 4 consoles to choose from or I can concoct some hybrid combination of them.
Off the bat, I am going to be bold and say, I have heard Neves and SSLs extensively, and this is uncannily the vibe of those boards. I haven't a/b'd this with the real thing, and frankly I wouldn't care how 'exact' they are as long as they sound good, and they sound GREAT! I pull up the Brit Class A, set the drive at 5 (which emulates the natural drive of the consoles), and it just feels like Neve (big, bold, and with a sweet top). The SSL 4k sounds clear, accurate, and gritty, and the 9k is super clean, and just has such a full range, you really hear the sub-lows. The Grand Channel has a tube-y, 3D sounds with a sort of pillowy low-mid and even-order harmonic sheen on top. It sounds like it's jumping out of the speakers.
I have UAD plugins and a few select outboard pieces, and the Softube and UAD stuff really does get me in the same quality zone as the hardware. (I have done some comparisons between my tube compressors and the software compressors, and I really do not always choose the hardware as the better sounding). I love that you can use some UAD plugins with Console One!!! I hope they implement more of them!
Gearslutz will tell you you can't get the hardware sound with software, blah blah blah, spend thousands upon thousands and you'll be able to make a great record. That is the biggest scam in this industry. It's people who have already spent thousands trying to have job security and peace of mind about their money hole. You will make great records with the Console One if you have the ears and skills, just like Michael Brauer does now with his Console One (Coldplay, John Mayer, Elle King)
The workflow is WONDERFUL! This thing was designed very intelligently, and it is just so intuitive to work on. If one piece of gear has allowed me to mix more quickly and with confidence, and with my ears instead of my eyes, it's this. I love the feel and placement of knobs, and the recall is great in the software. I like to set up multiple busses to mix into and can swap out between the Neve, SSL, or Grand Channel on the busses quickly and with ease. I ended up doing my current project with Neves on all of tmy channels and the Grand Channel on the busses. What a cool vibe! Big, bold Neve sound feeding into Tube 3Dness and warmth!
The build quality actually feels like something built in the good old days. It's robust, and not cheap plastic feeling. I feel like I could travel with this and not break or bend knobs, etc.. I can't believe it was only $!
Okay, so I have to actually think of SOME faults... And I really can't. So, I will end with this... I really hope they come out with more consoles (maybe a few cool vintage tube consoles, one British, one American, hint hint. I also hope they incorporate more UAD plugins as well as perhaps some other plugin manufacturers. Thank you, Dennis, for sending this one out to me!

  • Tactile Control of UAD Plugins

I purchased this product for its UAD integration and was not disappointed. Product is stable - no crashes yet. Plugin mappings are thoughtful and make sense.
Looking forward to a software update that enables us to add plugins that aren't pre-configured.

  • Surprisingly capable mixing console

After only a few hours of working with the Console 1 I was getting far better than expected results. Super intuitive workflow and noticeably improved mixes right out of the box.
I happen to own Softube's Volume 2 bundle, so I'm enjoying an added bonus from the 'Console 1 Ready' plugins included… e.g. I now have a direct hardware interface to Softube's FET Compressor and Summit Audio Grand Channel (EQ + Compressor)? Very cool indeed.
The Console 1 looks like a great addition to my studio so far. I plan to add a UAD unit (Apollo interface or satellite) to the mix, and look forward to controlling the UAD plugins using the Console 1 during tracking.
I'm confident the Console 1 is going to get used a lot in my studio.
There is currently a promotion offering a free British Class A channel strip when you buy the Console 1. It's a fantastic addition. The included SSL 4000 E is a beautifully modeled SSL console, while the BCA has more of a Neve vibe to it. Both are excellent channel strips, and the ability to switch between complete strips or components (Shape, EQ, Compression) on a track by track basis gives super detailed control over the sound.
Also the build quality of the unit is excellent. It should survive years of regular use.

  • Game changer

I was looking for something offering a more tactile mixing experience for my home studio and this unit along, with the bundled SSL 4E plugin is a game changer. Not only is it forcing me to get more consistent mixes, it's easy to use, looks great, and works flawless out the box. Simply create a template with it on each channel in your DAW and you are ready to go. Works great with StudioOne Pro. Would definitely recommend as I would Sweetwater.

  • Console 1 is fantastic!

I've been missing the ability to detach from using the mouse and staring at screens. This is a fantastic controller and a great plug-in. I only have the stock SSL 4000 E right now, but that tool alone has been a pleasure to use. I am in love with the ability to send the filters to the compressor to tame problem frequency areas with dynamics instead of EQ. The transient shaping in the gate section is a great tool. The EQ sounds nice and musical and warm. The drive feature and the ability to change its character is a game-changer for me. The is the first harmonic distortion feature I've found that mirrors or exceeds the 'Warmth' tool on the Sonnox Dynamics plug-in. The only thing I can share that falls short of spectacular is that the compressor is on the more subtle side, making it difficult to really smash on things and use the parallel compression feature to its full potential. That said, the compressor is still a clean and effective tool, and the parallel compression feature is still a very useful tool to have. Don't get me wrong, this compressor section is still great, just more in the 7/10 range for me, where as the rest of The Console 1 is 9.5/10 for me. The Console 1 is a beast and I love it! I look forward to expanding my arsenal of console to select from and plug-ins to use in conjunction with it. This unit in combination with a Faderport8 (replacing Command8) have really improved my workflow!

  • I usually wait a year or so to post a review but . . .

This thing is just so amazing! First of all, the included SSL console emulation sounds fantastic. The simple gate is superb. The transient shaper is an incredible addition. The EQ and the compressor work just like you'd think and sound fantastic. Setting the drive to 5.0 as a starting point is a MUST on pop/rock tracks. The ability to assign the high pass and low pass filters to the compressor section if desired makes the plugin incredibly flexible without getting into any of the fancier features. It's just great! I would imagine that the other Softube Emulations that are available (Neve, SSL 9K) are also great.
But we're just getting started. The control surface itself is fantastic. It is exactly as heavy as it needs to be to feel solid without being overbearing. The knobs are great. The layout makes perfect sense. I watched a ton of videos online before I pulled the trigger by ordering it just to get a sense of what it could do. When the box from Sweetwater arrived, I unpacked everything, installed the Console 1 software, and opened up a session that did not yet have any plugins on it and added Console one to all the audio/instrument bus tracks. It took me about an hour or so to start getting the hang of it, but once I got it, I was FLYING around the session. I've had it now for three weeks and I get faster and faster at using it every single day. It is worth its weight just for quickly mixing drum tracks. In fact, I would be satisfied with it even if I didn't use it for anything else. Once I had the location of the the filters, the transient shapers, the gate, the eq bands, the compressor controls, and the drive controls, I could bang out an awesome-sounding working mix of drums in minutes. When it came time to fine-tune, it was so easy to just select the track and go to work without having to look for a mouse or load another plugin.
But I still haven't gotten to the best part. The best part is how customizable this thing is. I never mix a snare drum without my trusty UAD 1176 bluestripe. So I made a preset that automatically replaces the stock SSL compressor with the UAD 1176 on my snare track. A limitation of the UAD 1176 is that it does not have a blend knob or a high-pass side-chain filter. Well, when you load it into Console 1, you actually retain the use of the blend knob to mix wet and dry signals and can assign the filter to the suddenly-appeared side-chain of the 1176. Basically, it makes UAD's amazing 1176's even better and more useful.
On a soulful, slow pop tune, I wanted to use the UAD Pultec and the UAD La2a on vocals. I dropped those into Console 1 and saved a user preset. Boom. In just a few minutes I had set up a very soft gate to cut out dead space, filtered out some lows using the SSL filter (which I still had access to even with the EQP-1 loaded in), let the Pultec work it's magic, and smoothed it all out with the La2a. I added just a little bit of drive, too, as icing on the cake.
I also love Softube's Trident A-Range EQ on electric guitars. I set up a preset that replaced the stock SSL EQ's on my electric guitar tracks and now I've got my whole guitar channel strip set up and ready for action.
The ability to control UAD plugis in UAD's Console while tracking using the Console 1 control surface is handy. I will admit that this isn't quite as intuitive, but doing basic things like muting or unmuting a track, adjusting a plugin parameter, or raising or lowering the fader for monitoring purposes is pretty easy. It's nice to not have to click out of ProTools.
Basically, this is a really great product. I was nervous about spending $ on something that is really just a fancy USB controller. However, it dramatically speeds up my work flow for both mixing and tracking. Also, Softube's arrangement with UAD makes the controller far more useful than it would be on its own (I have and like a lot of Softube native plugins . . . but my UAD stuff is the best!). I hope they keep adding more and more UAD plugins to the Console 1 format like they are rumored to do. Finally, even though I cut my teeth in the digital age and am quite accustomed to mousing around on the screen, I've always enjoyed using my (limited collection of) hardware. Console 1 really combines the best of both worlds. I can work more intuitively like I do on hardware, but I also get the flexibility of plugins.
There are a few things I would change, but they are largely minor. In an effort to keep the hardware unit looking sleek, I understand why all the knobs are the same color. Still, it might've been cool to have subtle differences in either color or surface texture for each section so that it is even easier to navigate by feel and sound rather than by sight. Alternatively, they could have used a few different color indicator lights for each section. They make it really easy to turn a knob back to zero (center position), but there is no obvious center position on the knobs. That means if you make an EQ change that you don't like, you have to look at the screen to make sure that you turn it back to zero, which does break up the flow a little bit of mixing without really looking at the parameter changes. While they have a fantastic undo/redo history that basically records every parameter change you'll ever make, there is no single 'undo' or 'redo' button. It's not a BIG deal, but there have been a few times when I turn a knob, think 'nah', and just want to quickly put it back where it was by hitting one button. Finally . . . and I totally get why they didn't/can't do this, but it would have been perhaps the best product ever if it had a motorized fader and super basic transport control. Yeah, yeah, it would've been a little bit bigger and a little bit more expensive but then it would complete eliminate the need for any other controllers on my desk. As it is, I still need my single-channel Faderport.
But hey, nothing's perfect, right? Well, except an ELA M 251 . . . that thing is perfection.

  • Softube Console One MKII - Worth the money

I've had this unit a few weeks and I'm extremely impressed with quality of the build, the software and the beauty of being able to mix with my ears rather than watching the screen constantly. I've used it with Studio One, Digital Performer and this week I'll try with Pro Tools - it sounds great. I have a lot of UAD plugins but I haven't tried using them with Console One yet. If you are on the fence about getting one of these, take the plunge, you won't regret it.

  • Believe The Ads!

As part of a serious Home Studio upgrade, I decided to go 'mixerless' and do the modular thing. I got the Console One for the 'top of my Channel Strip' of my Cakewalk Sonar DAW. (The Console One integrates nicely with Sonar, and I also got a DAW controller with motorized faders for the bottom of my 'channel strip').
I'm working on my 1st project with the Console One, and it's got 20 tracks and 6 busses so far, each with an instance of the Console One in it, and I have not seen any shred of CPU drain because of this.
Just having the unit installed on a track makes a very distinct audible difference in the sound quality... just as advertised...even BEFORE adding any of the tone sculpting with compression, EQ, etc.
The unit is built like a tank, and the controls feel very high quality. They seem to have very fine resolution too. Softube makes some awesome plugins, and the Console One can accept some of them for alternative processing (like the Summit Grand Channel). This thing sounds great.
The features of this unit are very well thought out, and I especially like the display On/Off button feature.
Every now and then it gets 'lost' as it seems to compete with the DAW controller (Faderport 8) in USB world occasionally, but a reboot of Sonar usually takes care of it.
I gave the Console One 4.5 Stars instead of 5 because the font on the controls is so tiny and not brightly colored. (At my age, I need a little bigger font.) I also added some taller rubber 'feet' to the back of the console to raise it up a bit and improve my visibility of it (it sits rather flat.)
    Very respectable unit.

  • I want to love this Console1.

I want to love this Console1. It has so many cool things going for it!
It was great playing with a new 3 track project in Live - but I hit a huge workflow problem after setting it up in an existing 24 track mix.
No Mackie protocols for it - so it does not realize what track you are on. No track follow. Say you are in your DAW (Ableton for me) you are clicked on track 15 - Drums. You're doing your thing, and you load up Console 1. Now you have to use the little buttons to set the track you are going to work on to 15, as it doesn't pull focus automatically. Crazy.
Except it's not track 15 in Console 1! It doesn't automatically sync track numbers and names, so now I can't figure out where the drum track is - because it's now track 13 in Console 1. Lots of kludges in their documentation for this. If I have to manually assign numbers to tracks every time something is added or deleted or moved in my mix, I have to wonder how people are ok doing this?
What's unclear to me is why Console 1 doesn't support some Mackie protocol. Wouldn't that get all those unsupported points working at once?
Then soloing. I can't solo via the DAW or it breaks console 1 and I can't hear anything (or solo anything), or if I solo in Console 1 - I lose sound and I still can't figure out how I got it back. Very flakey, and not sync'd to the DAW.
When I installed their software, it doesn't tell you that you need to load 'Softube On-Screen Display' to get things to work - so that took a tech support mail (which was quick!), and they apologized that it wasn't in the instructions.
Crazy that when you finally ask the right question, the internet streams in. Once I searched Google for Console1 support for Ableton (and everything else but Studio One) I found lots of tech support responses from Softube saying they hope to implement it some day so it works in DAWS other than Studio One. But the posts were years ago.
Why do companies offer you the world until you spend a day of your life trying to make it work, then you realize their marketing department got the best of them by putting out a product not ready for prime time? That's how it feels with Softube.
As I close, I really really wish this would work without complicating the workflow and creative process. It's a neat concept. I'll check back in a few years?

  • VST Not compatible with Ableton/Windows

Great controller, however, the buttons feel super cheap and do not have any grip.
My gripe with this device is that it does not fully integrate with Ableton using the VST3 version of the plugin.
The auto name track and number does not work in this system which effectively makes it extremely cumbersome to mix with this unit.
To put it into context, if you add a track between 3 & 4 then you must manually move the new configuration in the console 01 hardware unit. It's a nightmare!

  • Not very impressed

When I first saw Console One at the new price point I was really excited. To have SSL 4000 plug-ins on my DAW with a cool tactical interface I just had to have one. So far however I am not very impressed. None of the sections make much of an impact on my tracks. I just bought the Waves SSL 4000-G and E channel strips and am amazed at the quality of the Waves plugins. This is what I expected from Softube. Maybe if I could map the Waves plug-ins to the Console One controller I would be happier. This was a lot of money for something that I honestly will probably never use.

  • A great piece of gear but with SOFTUBE’s dysfunctional customer service

First, I like to point out that the 1 star rating is NOT for the functionality of the product, but for my experience with Softube company and their customer tech support service.
Console One is amazing, one of the most used units in my studio! I absolutely love it and use it in all of my tracks and sessions! It's super easy to use and has great sound output.
However, my experience with Softube's customer service is a whole different story.
On 1/5/2018, I installed the Console One, 2.4.37 update. Unfortunately, this update caused massive problems and put my work to a halt. Because of the problem it caused, I couldn't work on my projects as well as important client's projects I had to finish. I wrote Softube the same day and explained the problems. They replied back within several days, and from that point a 'Cat and Mouse' chase started. For two weeks I was dealing with this problem while going through back and forth e-mails with Softube. A solution?... unfortunately, they did not provided me with one.
The 2.4.37 update caused major problems. To name just a few: many tracks suddenly weren't available on the Console 1 unit itself, all original track numbers were completely altered and the Console One On-Screen-Display wasn't working. It was a total mess! I decided to remove the AU and VST3 plugins related to 2.4.37 update and put back the earlier – working version 2.3.76 from a backup I had. After opening Digital Performer and checking my sessions, all Console One settings have been wiped out from every single track!! EQ, Gate and Compressor settings has been erased - an absolute nightmare!
The first Softube support person suggested that I completely uninstall Console One and reinstall using version 2.3.76. I did that but it didn't help. He then disappeared without a trace and left me with this problem. A new Softube support person took his place and another week of back and forth e-mails started. The new person suggested that I check Console One plugin mixer to see if it's any different from the On-Screen-Display. Fortunately, the plugin seems to have kept the settings, yet I wasn't sure to what extent and if really all settings are still there 100% and nothing has been changed. In any case, the On-Screen-Display wasn't working at all, and for me it wasn't possible to work like this. When I mentioned that to the Softube support person, and kept asking for a solution/fix, he didn't seem very helpful with that and by the end of that week he simply disappeared as well. I sent two e-mails after that to Softube explaining that I still have a problem and looking to resolve that very soon…. However, Softube didn't reply to my e-mails and I was left stuck with this mess.
Throughout this all time, Softube didn't even once explained why this update has caused all these problems. When I kept asking for a more in-depth support, such as help trying to locate and recover particular files or folders related to Console One from a backup I had or anything similar, they simply didn't show any real interest in that. On 1/22/2018, 8 days after my last e-mail, they remembered to e-mail back, apologizing for the late replay. 'Thank you Softube' but this is a bit too late!
Since I had no help to resolve this problem, I had no choice but to reformat my entire SSD, reinstall operating system and use the full Time Machine backup I had. All because of one update!
